Summarizing Outcomes of the Competition

In view of declaration of 2010 the ‘Year of the Harmoniously Developed Generation’, the National University of Uzbekistan named after M.Ulugbek, the Tashkent Province Committee for Nature Protection, the children organization ‘Kamalak’ of the Public Movement of Youth ‘Kamalot’ and the non-governmental non-profit organization (NNO) ‘ Ekomaktab’ with the assistance of the Public Fund for Support of NNO and other Institutions of Civil Society under the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan announced the competition ‘Water – the Source of Life’.

The competition was held on 22 March – the World Day of Water. The students of the academic lyceums named after S.Kh. Siroyddinov,

S. Rakhimov and the Zangiata academic lyceum at the National University of Uzbekistan named after M. Ulugbek participated in it.

The competition was held in four fields:

1. Drawings

2. Articles

3. Poems  

4. Photos

Layout where students of the lyceums exhibited their competition works: drawings, articles, photos, craft items and even woven carpet, demonstrating life in a drop of water, were organized in the foyer of the Zangiata academic lyceum where this event was held.

Kh. Suvanov, the chairman of the Tashkent Province Committee for Nature Protection, students and teachers of academic lyceums, representatives of public and journalists got acquainted with the competition works. They marked the high level of consciousness of studding youth, taking up responsibility for resolution of ecological problems. The creative works of students of the academic lyceums reflected role and place of youth, expressed creative thinking. They visuall, in simple and intelligible form told us about water problems not only in Uzbekistan, but also in whole region, showed the ways of their resolution and spoke about the necessity of activization of youth.

Students of the academic lyceums named after S.Kh. Sirojiddinov,

 S. Rakhimov and the Zangiata academic Lyceum at the National University of Uzbekistan named after M. Ulugbek demonstrated their deep knowledge of the problem of careful and efficient use of water resources. The competent Jury assessed the works of students of academic lyceums according to their merits .

M.Rakhimova from the academic lyceum named after S.Kh.Sirojiddinov took the first place in the category ‘The Best Drawings’, the second place was given by the jury to Sh. Gafurov from the Zangiata academic lyceum and the third place – M.Khamidullaeva from the academic lyceum named after S.Rakhimov.

The places in the category ‘ the Best Article” were distributed in the following way:

N.Amirova, the Zangiata academic lyceum took the first place;

U.Saipov, the academic lyceum named after S.Kh.Sirijiddinov took the second place;

D.Oripov, the academic lyceum named after S.Rakhimov took the third place.

The winners in the category ‘The Best Poem’ were:

G.Turaeva , the academic lyceum named after S.Kh,Sirijiddinov – the first place;

N.Yunusova, the academic lyceum named after S.Rakhimov – the second place;

M.Abdurasulova, the Zangiata academic lyceum – the third place.

The winners in the category ‘The Best Photo’ were:

N.Amirova, the Zangiata academic lyceum – the first place;

Sh. Masharipova, the academic lyceum named after S.Kh. Sirojiddinov – the second place;

R.Rakhimova, the Zangiata academic lyceum – the third place.

At last, the Zangiata academic lyceum was recognized the most active academic lyceum taking part in the competition.

Students of the lyceums also showed the performances during the competition. They recited poems, showed staged sketches, danced.

Closing the competition, professor A.Nigmatov, the vice-rector of the National University of Uzbekistan stated that this competition was organized and held at high level; they were planning to hold such competition timed for ecological dates in future. The next competition is planned for the Earth Day, which the world community will mark on 22 April. Another competition is planned for the World Day of Environment on 5 June.
