For the Sake of the Environment

Current global or local ecological problems are influencing on ecologization of consciousness that is stimulating the appearance of public ecological organizations.
Public ecological organizations usually do not set up the charter goals to resolve any global problems; their activity has local character and aims at concrete target group and achievement of a definite task. This assists to improvement of the environment  or ecological situation at  the local level.
The Kengash of the Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan and the Kengash of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan adopted the decision to establish the Public Fund for support of nongovernmental nonprofit organizations (NNO) and other institutions of civil society under the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan. It has been done to assist to farther development and active participation in the implementation of democratic reforms and liberalization of the community, to develop independent nongovernmental nonprofit organizations and other institutions of civil society, to create independent system and objective conditions for the formation of the sources of their financing.
The Fund allocates financial resources directly to NNO or other institutions of civil society like subsidies, grants, social order on the basis of their applications and following the resolutions of the Parliamentary Commission.
One of these days the results of the four republican grant competitions devoted to the implementation of the State Program ‘The Year of the Harmoniously Developed Generation’ were published. These competitions were held by the Public Fund for support of nongovernmental nonprofit organizations (NNO) and other institutions of civil society under the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan. The solemn ceremony of awarding with the grant certificates of the representatives of 32 NNO from the Jizzakh, Sirdarya, Tashkent provinces and the Tashkent city that won these republican competitions took place at the Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan on 7 October 2010.
It is nice, that our colleagues from ecological NNO of Uzbekistan along with many public organizations became the winners in different categories of the grant tournament.
So the public organization ‘Rodnichok’ (a little spring) of the Tashkent province became one of the winners in the category ‘Formation of Healthy Generation, Strengthening of Explanatory Work on the Problem of Upbringing of Healthy Children among the Population’.
NNO Center ‘Ekoservice’ (Tashkent) and Uzbekistan Society for Birds Protection (Tashkent) are among the leaders in the categories: ‘Raise of the Public Activity of the Population, Provision of its Employment, Including Improvement of its Professional Training in Remote Districts and Rural Area’ and ‘Assistance to Provision of the Population with Clean Drinking Water, Improvement of Melioration Status of Lands, Reduction of their Salinity, Efficient Use of Water, Land Resources and Depths’.
The Children Ecological Fund ‘Zelyonaya Volna’ ( green wave) became the winner among other NNO in the category ‘Raise of Social Activity of Women and Youth, Improvement of their Professional Training in Remote Districts and Rural Area’.
The International Public Fund for  Ecology and Health ‘Ekosan’ (Tashkent), the Tashkent City Social and Ecological Public Association ‘Hayot’ are in the list of winners in the following categories of the grant competition: raise of ecological awareness of the population, reduction of the pollution level of water objects and air environment; creation of favourable conditions for education of disabled people, strengthening of material and technical base of their societies and associations.
As it is seen from the large spectrum of topical areas of the grant program’s winners, their activity is various and specific, but all of them are united with one aspiration to help the environment and assist to development of harmonious interrelations between the society and the nature.
We heartily congratulate our respected colleagues with the deserved title of the grant competition’s winners and wish them successes in the implementation of their projects and fulfilment of all set up goals.
