The International Center for Agricultural Research in the Dry Areas (ICARDA), representing a consortium of 11 international agricultural research centers in Central Asia and the Caucasus, is seeking a Research Assistant in Potato Breeding and Selection of the International Potato Center (CIP), Tashkent office. The position is based in Tashkent, Uzbekistan.

The mission of the international centers is to contribute to achieving the overall goals of food security, improving human health and nutrition, and enhance ecosystem resilience through high-quality international research, partnership and leadership in Central Asia and the Caucasus. They work closely together with partners in the countries to carry out collaborative research-for-development activities. All new technologies resulting from the centers' research are freely available to everyone.
Job description:
- To work on screening and evaluation of potato breeding materials;
- To assist the Head in reporting on the project operational activities, provide input for the preparation of status and progress reports on project implementation;
- To facilitate dissemination of project outputs, in close cooperation with the project partners;
- To supervise and appraise relevant operational support staff;
- To perform other duties as required and may be assigned by the Head, CIP Tashkent office.
Qualifications and Experience Required:
• University degree preferably in agriculture or related field
•  Have a good knowledge of potato breeding,
•  Have a good knowledge of Agronomy, Plant Genetics, Pest and Disease control;
•  Have a good knowledge of Biotechnology and Statistics
• Have a good and significant field experience (should not be a beginner) and be willing to travel in the region.
•  Good in both written and oral English and Russian languages, the knowledge of Uzbek language as a plus;
• Good working knowledge on computer (Word, Excel, Outlook Express).
