Clean Cattle-breeding will Reduce Pollution

  Cattle-breeding is one of the most important branches of the agriculture of Uzbekistan and significant source of food products and incomes for rural inhabitants. At the same time, the cattle-breeding considerably influences on the environment. Maintenance of the ecological balance requires the special approach, knowledge and application of the technologies, that allow reducing damage to environment, in particular, to quality and fertility of the most important agricultural resource – soil.
    All these aspects were considered at the seminar ‘Environment and Cattle-breeding: Modern Resource-saving Technology’. This seminar was held in the Dustobod city, of the Kuyichirchik district of the Tashkent province.
    This event was organized within the framework of the ‘Support of the Sustainable Development of Cattle-breeding in Uzbekistan’ joined project, implemented by the Ministry of the Agriculture and Water Resources of Uzbekistan, UNO Development Program (UNDP) and Israeli Agency for International Cooperation (MASHAV). The project is aimed at rendering assistance to the government of Uzbekistan in developing of the cattle-breeding sector, increasing professional qualification of the specialists in cattle-breeding, farmers and workers of dekhkan (peasant) entities, by means of demonstration of the modern skills in cattle-breeding management and veterinary services.
    Leading specialists in the field of ecology, agriculture and cattle-breeding took part in this seminar. During it the problems of environment, use of renewable energy sources in view of development of cattle-breeding sector and growing of forage crops were discussed.
    The first part of the seminar was devoted to the ecological aspects of the minimum treatment of soil in growing of forage cultures for cattle-breeding.
    As Mekhriddin Tursunov, the employee of the Tashkent Institute of Irrigation and land Improvement marked, the minimum (resource-saving) technology of soil treatment concerns to the most perspective soil protection methods. This method allow reducing the negative influence of agricultural machineries on soil, saving root system of natural vegetative cover and minimizing formation and discharge of carbon dioxide (CO2).
    During the second part of the seminar, the participants discussed the problems of application of biogas technologies for recycle of cattle-breeding waste to receive  energy and organic fertilizations
    Application of biogas technologies allows not only neutralizing waste of cattle-breeding, dangerous for environment, but also receiving high-calorific fuel and ecological clean fertilizations. The discussion of the perspectives and economic benefits of the introduction of biogas installations at local cattle0breeding entities raised  great interest of the participants.
    As experts remarked, carrying out of such events should further ecological education of rural population, optimization of cattle-breeding, taking into account the environment safety requests  and, in the end, the preservation of ecological stability in the agriculture.
