New system will help to forecast cataclysms

Meteorologists of Uzbekistan gained an ability to make accurate forecasts and predict cataclysms. New system of satellite monitoring was launched in republic. Station “UniScan-24” will receive and process photo images from the space. With the help of satellite technologies it is now possible to estimate the snow level at mountain peaks.

“Our mountains are difficult of access, we observe a lack of stations, so this complex will greatly help us to receive data on the snow level in mountains of Central Asia. We will use this data in our hydrological forecasts”, - chief of the meteorological-informational systems department of Uzhydromet Alexander Soloveychik said.

It became possible to forecast whether the next year will be rich on precipitations or not, which is essentially important information for agriculture. With the help of space shootings farmers can scan every square meter of agricultural territory, economize their resources and receive a greater profit.

The system will also help fire brigades and rescuers to trail forest and steppe fires and to fix sandstorms in time.
